Venerdì 14 agosto 2026, l’Ex-Pescheria di Taurianova ospita Cavewoman, il progetto solista di Carmen Estévez Calero, percussionista, cantante e produttrice spagnola originaria di Montijo (Badajoz), con un percorso artistico che l’ha portata da Madrid a New York, tra flamenco, jazz, pop ed elettronica.
Carmen ha collaborato con artisti come Chambao, Melendi, Nacho Cano e il ballerino di tap Savion Glover, ed è stata protagonista della scena flamenca newyorkese con progetti come “Flamenkina” e “Flamenco Revolución”. Con Cavewoman dà vita a un sound originale, dove musica elettronica, flamenco e hip hop si fondono in percussioni e vocalità uniche.

CAVEWOMAN BIO
Carmen Estévez Calero is a percussionist, singer, producer, and studio musician from Montijo (Badajoz). At 19, she embarked on her first tour as the lead singer of the pop band “Super 8.” She then moved to Madrid where she began working as a percussionist and singer (Sedyu, Rogerio Da Sousa, Henrik Takkenberg (Chambao), Inma Serrano… and in productions such as “Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar” (Nacho Cano). In 2008 she went to New York. There she studied at the Collective School of Music. She created her own flamenco/ jazz trio, “Flamenkina,” which later became the original band for tap dancer Savion Glover’s show “Solo in Time.” She has also played with artists from the New York flamenco scene such as Ismael Fernández and Sonia Olla, Sean Kupisz, Auxi Fernández, and was part of “Flamenco Revolución” with Maya de Silva and Arturo Martínez, “Espíritu Gitano”. Also musicians from the NYC scene such as Sean Wayland, Matt Geraghty, Joe Claussel, Marshall Davis, Andy McCloud, Jason Lindner (Now vs Now), Troy Simms, Nakamura Takuya (N.E.R.V.E.) among many others. From 2011 to 2019, she worked with guitarist and Grammy winner Hernan Romero and jazz saxophonist Kestutis Vaiginis on the project “Strings and Air.” In 2019, she recorded her album “Un Instante” with Daniel García and Pablo San Martín for their project “CaneliBeat,” where she blends flamenco and pop with electronic music. She was a percussionist for the music production “Cruz de Navajas” and “Mecano Experience.” She was also the percussionist for Melendi on the “Likes y Cicatrices” tour and a backing vocalist for the urban artist Cano on the “DPQDP” tour. She is currently working on her solo project “Cavewoman” where she mixes electronic music with flamenco/hip hop vocals and percussion, also member of vibrant projects such as “Sonido Vegetal” from Granada and the lead singer of the NYC based project “Brooklyn Gypsies”.
